Five More Pounds

I am now within five pounds of my goal weight.  I started this adventure at the unhealthy weight of 185 pounds, with a goal of losing 30 pounds in the next 90 days.  Amongst the dietary changes, and increased exercise, I am now down to a total weight of 160 pounds.  While that is 5 pounds shy of my goal, it is still quite the accomplishment, considering everything else gained during this experience.

Things I can do now that I could not before:

  1. Run.  Not just run, but run 3 miles, almost to the point of enjoyment, and not die.
  2. Swim.  More than just jumping in the pool and chilling out, or helping the kids not drown.  I can now swim about 600 yards without drowning.
  3. Bike.  This I could already do, but now I do it faster, and in the hill country.  I have managed to get to an average speed of 20mph over a short 15mi course, with 850 in elevation changes.
  4. Nutrition.  I now know what to eat, and when to eat it.

I am not sure I will get to my goal weight by the day of the triathlon, but as close as I am, I am sure it is not too far away.  Having developed some new habits, I hope these changes will permanent.
