Training Plan for the Week of Feb 3 - 9, 2008

Busy busy with my new position at work. I’m coming off a week of travel and relative slack, and instead of taking a long run yesterday, I did some trail riding on my commuter bike, and learned quite a few tings:

  1. I am not superman.
  2. 700×23mm tires does not a cyclocross bike make.
  3. Rocks are hard.
  4. Bruises are cool.
  5. Cubans can fly.
  6. No, I cannot have a 4th bike.

For the next week we’ve got a full schedule, and with any luck, not a lot of suck.

Sunday: Off. This will make good time to heal from yesterday.
Monday: Spinervals. A bike trainer specific workout, targeted at road and crit racing, in otherwords, it should help me prepare for the road race (I hope)
Tuesday: Bike commute (or pending bad weather, 2 hours on the trainer)
Wednesday: 45 minute run. Can’t forget about this caca, or I’ll have none left for the Du next month.
Thursday: Bike commute (again, if the weather sucks, 2 hours on the trainer)
Friday: Brick time! I found a nice park with some long paved trails I can run, so I’ll pack the commuter bike, ride the 17mi out, run the trails, and ride the 17 back home. Or, failing that, bring the wife and kids out to the park, play with the kids for a bit, take my run, and then ride home.
Saturday: Long run. Something longer than the 45min scheduled anyways.

Bad weather plans: I’ll replace an outdoor run with a treadmill run at work, or an outside ride (commute) with the same amount of time on the trainer.
