New Running Shoes
Seems we’ve covered this before, but I didn’t learn my lesson, and continued running in those same shoes until about a week or two ago.
There I was, in the middle of my long run, pacing was good, temps were cool, about 6.5 miles out of 7 or 8 in. SNAP like cold celery breaking, I stumbled for a few steps, stopped and took inventory. Since there was no pain coming from my foot where the snap was, I assumed nothing was broken, and may have just hit a rock, afterall it was dark.
After a few more steps it was apparant something was wrong. Not with my feet, but the shoes. Now, there should be a dramatic picture here, but alas, I have none, and the shoes LOOK fine, but, something plastic inside snapped, and they went all floppy. It was time for new ones.
After going to several running stores, and finding out that I have a slight pronation (over or under I’m not sure), and am a heel striker, I found the New Balance 970’s. These shoes are GREAT. A bit ugly, but light, and easy in & out. I need to work through breaking them in and the initial blisters from that, but, I’m running again.
