Identifying Limiters
In the wake of my last race, I think it’s clear what and where my limitations lie, but, on the advice from Triathlete Magazine, I’m going to take the time to write them out. Identifying them, will then help me develop goals, and a plan to reach said goals. Here goes:
Swimming. More specifically, endurance in the open water. The first race of the season was 300m, and while I made the first 100m fine, I ended up treading more water than I’d like. Other than improving endurance, I’d like to shave some time off (who wouldn’t) my overall swim.
Transition. I’d like to do more, if not all of the race without socks. While that was the plan this last go around, it didn’t work out that way. I’ve already started practicing on the bike & running without shoes, so we’ll see how this works out on race day.
Bike. While I feel good here, I think my cornering needs some attention, and I need to figure out how to better attack hills w/ a head wind.
Run. Stop walking. It really is that simple on this one, and I think a completely doable goal. It’d shave some time off overall. I’d also like to be able to pick a rabbit and chase them, or be able to run side by side with someone. I’ve found in practicing this helps me maintain speed, and keeps me going.
I think that covers it for now. Here they are again, a bit easier to digest:
- Open water endurance
- Race without socks
- Conering
- Running endurance
- Running pacing
Next, some kind of plan.
